Colorectal Surgery

Our group cares for the entire range of surgical conditions of the colon (large intestine). Unfortunately colon cancer continues to be one of the most common problems we treat. Our goal is always cure and we can often accomplish successful removal of the colon tumor with its adjacent lymph nodes using laparoscopic (minimally invasive) techniques, although occasional patients are still best treated with open operation.

Non-cancerous conditions, including diverticulitis, diverticulosis, colitis, hemorrhage and perforation also may require surgery and we work closely with referring physicians, gastroenterologists and radiologists to select those patients best treated with an operation. Often these procedures can be performed laparoscopically.
